Summary of Street Week 2023
Now the 2023 edition of Street Week has been completed, and we can breathe out the smell of rubber and rest our ringing ears. Of course, a little summary is needed to rev up even more for next year—who actually won?
The 2023 edition of Street Week is over and we are already looking forward to the next one. Before we can breathe out the smell of rubber, the roar of the horses ringing in our heads, and the dirt under our nails, we will of course summarize this year's biggest event.
Max Outlawclass winner (Michael Westbergwill be presented in a separate post as they achieved a feat that requires its own article.
In the class under Max Outlaw, we findStreet Outlaw,this class contains a few more rules than the previous class but still goes as fast as lightning. The racer who took home the title for this class isJörgen Anderssonin his Cap with an average time of 5.3736 and his fastest time of 5.0599 already on the first race day at Mantorp Park.
In the classUltimate Streetthe rulebook is starting to get heavier but that doesn't stop itSami Luokkalain his car. Sami averages 5.9194 during this year's Street Week and achieves his fastest time at Mantorp Park with a staggering 5.6634.
True Streetthe class winner 2023 is none other thanSami Toivonenin his red Camaro. If you were there, you might not have missed that Sami did an unforgettable wheelie (for you non-enthusiasts or those with poor English, he did a wheelie) at Malmö Raceway. An average time of 6.0995 made him the winner in the class and the fastest time with 5.6070 in connection with his wheelie at Malmö Raceway.
The classPro Touringwent toMichael Callin and his cool Corvette. In the end, he could stand as the winner in the class with an average time of 6.4886, and he achieved the fastest lap time at Malmö Raceway with a time of 6.2525.
In the classImport War there are two winners, one for FWD (front-wheel drive) which went to Krister Jungvar with his, believe your eyes, VW Caddy. The average time was 10.7566 and the fastest time was 10.5886 at Malmö Raceway. Then we have the RWD (rear-wheel drive) class which Daniel Johansson won in his BMW E92 with an average time of 6.0027 and his fastest run at Malmö Raceway where he clocked 5.6492.
We are approaching the end, but before that, we will go through the last winners.
The class4WD, where Henrik Andersen is active and takes home the title with an average time of 5.7785 and his fastest run with a time of 5.6139 at Mantorp in his BMW 318Ti.
To move towards slightly more expensive fuel prices, we have the class Diesel Power. The class winner is Linus Thollander with a Cheva Nova that achieves an average time of 6.7882 with the fastest run at 6.6108 at Malmö Raceway.
The second to last class is Classic which Kenneth Westin takes home in his Chevrolet -55 with an average time of 6.8359 and the fastest run took place at Malmö Raceway. The time? Well, 6.5569.
Last but certainly not least is the class Hot Rod which Thomas Olsson takes home in his Ford T-HOT. The average time lands at 6.6693 with the fastest run at Malmö Raceway with a time of 6.5390.
A brief summary of all the winners should of course conclude with a big thank you to all the drivers who participated, the organizers, and the audience. For those of you who have noticed a pattern where the fastest runs were made, there is a short and simple explanation: the tracks at Mantorp Park and Malmö Raceway were prepped.
